DAY DRESSES

A day dress is designed for everyday wear, something you can put on in the morning and feel comfortable in for hours. It usually comes in easy fabrics like knit, denim, cotton or chiffon and avoids details like heavy embellishments, sequins, stiff tailoring or anything that feels more suited to formal events.

They can be, as long as the style leans a little more refined. Midi or knee-length day-to-day dresses tend to work well, especially when they have sleeves, thicker straps or a higher neckline. It’s best to avoid anything too short, sheer or overly fitted and instead go for casual dresses that feel more covered and easy to move in. Adding a blazer or switching to closed-toe shoes like loafers or low heels can also make a day dress look more office-ready.

Knit and jersey are great for everyday use because they stretch, hold their shape and don’t wrinkle easily, making them ideal if you’re out for long periods. Denim offers more structure and can feel a bit more put-together, especially for casual work or outings. Cotton and linen blends are lightweight and breathable for warmer days, while chiffon works if you want something softer and more flowy.
